Anti-Gay “Truth Academy” curriculum released

Peter LaBarbera’s Americans for Truth about Homosexuality is preparing to teach teens how gays are trying to destroy America. The schedule is now available.

Recently, we told you about AFTAH’s planned “Truth Academy” near Chicago. This event is only open to attendees who come with references proving that they support AFTAH’s anti-gay agenda.

We wrote to Peter LaBarbera and expressed our understanding that he likely did not have the resources to provide security and did not want disruptive people in attendance. We asked if one of us or a representative could attend, and participate only at the level LaBarbera deemed appropriate.

He responded, explaining that he would have to run the idea past his advisory board. The only further reply received was from one of his board members to Peter, recommending that Peter “blow them off” this year and let the event grow, perhaps including the press in the future.

LaBarbera’s closed door to the press and to anyone not able to prove that they, as required, “share AFTAH’s belief that homosexuality is immoral and that the GLBT movement is destructive to America and a direct threat to our religious freedom” has brought criticism and the assumption that this “Truth Academy” will more likely be a three-day gay-bashing session which LaBarbera does not want public.

The recently released curriculum suggests that this may well be the case.

These session titles do not indicate a focus on “helping” homosexuals. Instead, nearly every session is geared toward teaching teens that homosexuals are trying to destroy their Christian way of life, or training teens to lead a cultural war against homosexuals. The Truth Academy’s apparent goal is to push gays out of all segments of society and ensure their continued second-class-citizen status.
