On Sat Jul 25, 1:30 - 2:30 Eastern, 12:30 - 1:30 Central, 11:30 - 12:30 Mountain, and 10:30- 11: 30 Pacific, Vince Daniels will be dedicating a whole hour to our topic. He will host attorney Jeff Anderson, the attorney who is suing the Vatican. Last month the US Supreme Court ruled that his case can go forward. SNAP President, Barbara Blaine, will also be a guest on the show and will discuss the growing survivor movement.
At approximately 10:35 am (PDT)/1:30 pm (EDT), Attorney Jeff Anderson (pictured above-right) joins The Vince Daniels Show. Almost 3 weeks ago the United States Supreme Court ruled that a lawsuit against the Vatican by a sexual abuse victim can move forward.
The suit, filed by St. Paul, Minnesota attorney Anderson on behalf of an anonymous plaintiff, claims that the Holy See is accountable for sexual abuse by one of its former priests, Andrew Ronan, who admitted to abusing teens at St. Philip's High School in Chicago as well as another school in Ireland before being transferred to St. Alberts Parish in Portland, Oregon where he abused the John Doe named in the lawsuit.
Anderson contends that Ronan was an employee of the Vatican, and that it is liable for the abuse. Ronan died in 1992. Your comments and questions are welcomed throughout the segment.
From the top of this hour, Vince continues the topic of clergy sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church with phone calls that are welcomed, toll-free at (888) 909-1050. His special guest, postponed from 7/3, is Barbara Blaine (pictured above), founder of the Chicago-based SNAP, Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests. "Accountability going all the way up to the Pope. It doesn't get any bigger than this lawsuit. This is history," says Barbara. How will this affect other victims and survivors of clergy sexual abuse? Blaine will explain.
It isn't often that stories are presented by females being molested by a priest or other clergy. Barbara Blaine will openly share her story and how she one day came to put together a large healing and advocacy organization which every year for almost 20 years has put on National Conferences. It will happen again in Chicago next weekend, July 30–Aug 1. Barbara's keynote address will be called "Exposing the Truth: Difficult but Necessary." Jeff Anderson will speak on how "All Roads Lead to Rome."
